I use my main pair (Bausch&Lomb “Elite” 8×42) for almost everything. They stay by my living room chair when I’m not out birding.
The only time I use the second pair (Nikon “Action” 8×40 8.2°) is when my main ones aren’t within reach. They live in the kitchen unless I take them to loan to someone.
